Founded in 1981, TNDC's mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with support services for low-income people in the Tenderloin community and be a leader in making the neighborhood a better place to live. TNDC now owns and manages 25 buildings that provide homes for 2,500 extremely low-income seniors, families, people with disabilities, low-income wage earners, immigrants and others in the Tenderloin and nearby neighborhoods. In addition, TNDC provides on-site supportive services and resources such as social workers and after-school programs to help residents stabilize their lives and develop a sense of community.
Description
The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for general maintenance of TNDC Facilities and Buildings. The Maintenance Worker I also provides custodial support when needed or applicable. This position is full-time (40 hours a week) and non-exempt.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppages
2. Repair/replacement of glass, tile, locks, hinges and window coverings
3. Light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures, switches and circuits
4. Light painting both interior and exterior surfaces
5. Sheetrock repairs
6. Submits completed work orders to Maintenance Supervisor
7. Attend required TNDC meetings
8. Attend required TNDC team, training, safety, and staff meetings
9. Follow TNDC safety policies and procedures at all times
10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
11. Be on call and respond to emergencies as needed, including after hours
12. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1 years of residential maintenance or related building experience
Ability to lift 75 pounds and climb ladders
General Understanding and working application of plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills
Ability to obtain High-rise Fire Safety Certificate within 6 months
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California drivers license
Knowledge of Cal/OSHA safety requirements
Second language ability
SALARY: DOE ($11.50 to $13 per hour) plus excellent benefits
